Decorator Supply offers a wide variety of carpet, ceramic tiles, vinyl and laminate floor coverings, window treatments and custom mixed paint to spruce up homes.
“I tell people the easiest way to give their home a fresh and inexpensive new look is with a change of paint color and carpet,” said Angie Wray, the store’s owner.
Decorator Supply has been a fixture on the Iola square for 40 years. The first five years on the east side of the square and the last 35 years at 102 N. Washington, on the northwest side of the square. The store was originally owned by Wayne and Norma Jackson. Wray took over ownership a little over a year ago from her parents.
Wray encourages customers to take tile, carpet endpoint samples home with them before making a final decision. The lighting in the store is much brighter than most homes.
“I don’t want people to purchase a paint color and be disappointed when the color looks entirely different on their walls at home,” Wray said.
Wray can match most any color sample brought into the store. Colors can also be coordinated with flooring, backsplashes, window treatments or a bedspread. Earth tones, golds, greens and sage are the most popular colors in decorating today’s homes.
“Earth tones have been popular for several years and I don’t see the trend changing anytime soon,” Wray said.
Decorator Supply has one of the biggest selections of ceramic tiles in southeast Kansas enabling the store to be priced competitively with stores in larger cities.
Wood blinds and vertical blinds have become popular choices for windows as compared to drapes in years past.
Wray said she will go to a customer’s and measure for floor coverings and give an estimate free of charge. The store also has installers who will lay the carpeting and wood floors.
Store hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. Wray may be reached at 365-5211.
